The Alchemy of the Rose Garden

‘I sing the body electric,

The armies of those I love engirth me and I engirth them,

They will not let me off till I go with them, respond to them,

And discorrupt them, and charge them full with the charge of the soul.’

 

Over the past few years our coven Maiden Rebecca and myself began offering a workshop called ‘I Sing The Body Electric’ based on this quote by Walt Whitman. This work included the core teachings from The Rose Queen‘s Bower, but what we came to realise is that this course was not specifically about sex. It was more about a missing piece in the puzzle of the fetch. Sexuality, gender, and intimacy in general have all taken a few hits in this culture. What has happened is that aspects of our fetch are wounded. The Rose Queen of infinite mercy, as I have known her through our witchcraft tradition, has opened so many mysteries, but only when I was ready to see them. It is clear to me now how much of this wounding has been done to people as an act of war, used to control us. It is no accident that controlling regimes strike out at women, reproduction, and sexuality and gender variance. These are signs these things threaten the establishment. They don’t like the idea of the kind of power they can produce. This new course is a culmination of the work Rebecca and I have brought to light. It challenges us to unbind and question a lot of things that currently hold our fetch hostage.
